Chapter two maybe. Starts with like the Chieftan’s daughter’s dog like running around the search party as the opening sentence of the very first chapter after everything goes completely sideways, and all the well-laid plans of mice and men shit the bed. The search party just sort of stands around silent but super-annoyed for a bit.
The Chiftan’s daughter’s doggo is a smart doggo: she runs along the other side of the long cliff following the search party down the side of the mountain, but then gets lost, and runs around chasing wildlife for a bit, but then stumbles across a familar part of the woods being the regular route the tribe uses to climb the hills when they’re not fleeing bloodthirsty marauders bent on pillage and destruction, and runs up the hill.
Good doggo, one of the search party says, scratching her behind her ears as she parks in front of them and tilts her head sideways to receive affection, smart doggo. The rest of the chapter is probably the amazement bubble bursting, and the barney that was brewing down the hill, but being held for later for purposes of getting the job done, shows up to have its moment in the sun. That would be fun. We get to know all the main players in the screed up close and personal.
But yeah. Chapter 2, a search party of semi-agrarian nomad tribespeople who have consumed an unusual amount of fatty acids from the sea combined with some bizarre berry or some shit up the hill that helped their brains develop enough to find way better ways to get what they need than stealing from others over the generations are back down the hill.
What happens? Do they retreat to the ramparts in the mountains? Do they decide to go spy on the marauders destroying and pillaging their camp? Do they try to gather intel? Are they successful? Do they have inadvertent contact with marauders broken off from the pack? Do they capture them and tie them up, such that they’re fated to be left behind, and at considerable length brought into the tribe they were trying to plunder and despoil? Do they spill the beans when finally able to communicate? Are they themselves captured and taken off as slaves, to have a whole big new adventure in instrumentalism of their own, like at least until they can free themselves? Do the maruaders see them and chase after them up the hill? Is there a pitched battle at the nomadic but only semi-so ramparts up the mountain?
Could go a few different ways that one hey campers
