Aren’t we some funny mother fuckers with this shit. We’re an intellectually honest meritocracy, except when it comes to the belief systems and operating assumptions driving global warming and encircling ecocide. It’s almost as through we want ideological enablers and mediocrities who will parrot the conventional beliefs we prefer to hear, and not anyone competent enough to say ‘no’ to us, or contradict us with intellectual history.
This is why I don’t try to even teach anymore; I mean, besides having nothing left to absorb the levels of habitual abuse and ritual degradation and humiliation you catch trying to work in a system as fucked in the head and generally corrupt as Australian education. What’s the fucking point of trying to encourage anyone to excel or achieve exactly if it’s not competent achievers who are rewarded by the system, but mediocre ideological conformists and codependent enablers who will tell the thugs on a mission in charge what they want to hear?
